Scotland: EnrichScotland

 

Through EnrichScotland you will find links to Scottish archaeology, maritime, fine art, music, science, environment, advice, skills development, nature, social and oral history from a wide range of sources representing the community and voluntary sectors, local authorities, libraries and archives, art galleries, museums, further and higher education, and the private sector.

Over the next few months, the groups and organisations funded by the digitisation programme will be gathering their material and putting it into place. You will be able to access their collections through the EnrichUK·net and EnrichScotland.net websites.

In Scotland, there is a wide variety of projects, all focusing on different elements. Here are some examples:

The Highland Council
Project Name: Am Baile - the Gaelic Village

The Am Baile (Gaelic Village) project will provide a major learning and research resource for everyone with an interest in the language, culture and history of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. It will offer learning opportunities for users of all age groups, abilities and backgrounds by drawing together unique and often hitherto difficult-to-access materials and presenting them in a user-friendly and exciting way on the Internet.

Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network
Project Name: Resources for Learning in Scotland

Resources for Learning in Scotland (RLS) is a consortium headed by the National Library of Scotland and including the National Archives of Scotland, the Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network, and over 100 Scottish archives and libraries, to create digital content for the study and celebration of social, cultural and industrial heritage in Scotland, complementary to and integrated with the SCRAN resource base.

Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations
Project Name: Voluntary Management Essentials
Voluntary Management Essentials aims to provide a 'one stop shop' for groups and individuals throughout Scotland wishing to set up or better manage their voluntary group or charity. It provides free access to a range of guides, manuals, pamphlets and policy material.
 
Key subject areas are: Charity Law, Good Management and Governance, Employment Law and good practice, and Fundraising .

Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums
Project Name: Explorer

The purpose of this project is to encourage exploration and understanding of and participation around the collection of Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums. This is to be acheived through the digitisation of the collection, particularly the specialist areas of Applied Fine Art, Fine Art, Maritime History, Science and Industry, Archaeology and Numismatics.

Project name: NESBReC
The North East Scotland Biological Records Centre helps to spread knowledge of the north east biodiversity, develop understanding of its importance and provide quick and effective access to reliable information on all species, habitats and designated sites.
